Doctor Dodge Ball

This is another game the kids like. Its called Doctor Dodge Ball. It is regular dodge ball but with a twist. There is one kid that is the doctor. This kid has the ability to bring kids that are out back in just by touching them. Of course this comes with a big problem for both teams. If the doctor gets out the game is over and the other side wins.

To setup Dr. Dodgeball you make two even or almost even teams. Then the teams make a huddle to choose a doctor. One person from each team will come and tell you who is the doctor. You can use as many dogdeballs as you want, but the minimum should be two.

To play Dr. Dodgeball you throw in the balls and start. If someone gets hit below the head it counts. If someone gets hit they sit cross-legged. The doctor can rescue them by touching them. If the doctor gets hit the opposite team wins.

Shipwreck Game

This is a great game. It involves lots of running back and forth thus helping to wear the kids out. Depending on your floor this can be a hard game on the body.

This game is quite simple. You use the Awana game floor. It provides everything you need. The 6 positions in the game are the four sides of the Awana square.

Green, Yellow, Red, and Blue.

The center Square (Life Raft)

The game starts with all the kids on a color. I start on Red. Then I call out a color, shipwreck, or Man Overboard.

If I call a color all the kids run to that color. The last kid there is out.
If I call Shipwreck all the kids run to the center square. Last kid there is out.
If I call Man Overboard all the kids fall flat on the floor. Last one to be down is out.

The ways to have fun calling this game is to use your hands and sometimes point out the wrong way. Say for instance I call out red but point to green. the kids are concentrating on what I am pointing to that many of them will run the wrong way. Don't do this too often else the kids will get annoyed.

Another fun things to do is to call out the color they are standing behind. If any of the kids start off the last one back is out.

With Man overboard it is important to make sure all the kids are flat on their stomachs so none have a unfair advantage.

Ties are common where it is hard to tell who was last. If that happens I don't call anyone out. Everyone gets to stay in. If you have a hard time figuring out who was last start to call the postions quite quickly eventually someone will get tired or just not be paying attention and will be last.
